Transportation design final presentation

Can't believe how fast the semester has gone by.

I still remember how people were excited about designing "real-ish" cars and looking forward for the new semester to begin. Then we started out with crazy amount of work and minimum amount of sleep, which was tiring but still manageable.

As semester move on, it seems everyone was losing the momentum, works from all classes were piling on top of us.
Then we got to the clay modeling, which is extremely time consuming but cool process. It's almost addictive if you get into doing it. Sculpting the form and see your drawing come to life, it was a great experience for me.

Many thanks to Prof. Cliff Ghetti and our fellow classmates, it's been a challenging semester and it was great to have your talent and support along this journey.

IESNYC: Liminal Luminosity

lighting competition

this Tuesday, our design class went to this IESNYC's lighting competition
we had to get up early and go to the city in the morning
we arrived the place at 8 o'clock (we usually don't wake up till 8:30 or later...)
anyway...it is an interesting experience
we get there and start to setting up our lighting fixtures, putting up the presentation boards
its pretty smooth process then we had expected (you always have to prepare for the worst scenario anyway...=w=)
after setting up we just went back to school, finish the afternoon class then go back again~

at night, the reception is like a high end party kind of stuff...
people are dringking and eating some snacky food (there's a crunchy bread tast real~~ly good)
it is interesting to see how different school and people approch the same topic given

the topic is Liminal Luminosity

"Construct a 3-dimensional study to show how light facilitates, defines, or bridges a point of transition."

liminal (lim'i nel):

1. of or at the limen, or threshold
2. at a boundary or transitional point between two conditions

its fine if you don't get it....cause i don't get it either....XDDDD....Orz
anyway...im sure only few people will read the whole thing to this point...so...just go look at the picture...thats more interesting then my jumble mumble~

The 11th Hour

我剛剛看完這部影片, 有機會的話~很值得看看

看的時候有種"感觸良多"的fu~

我有種感覺...那麼多人在為人類的未來努力著,但是那麼多人只是一小部分

到底要怎樣讓大家了解到問題所在

所謂紀錄片型的片子好像愛看的人不多吧..會去看的人還是在乎的那些人阿

在裡面有講到...也許很多人早就知道也感覺到的現象

我們人類的世界完全被金錢所困住了

就是所謂的consumerism吧...

工作賺錢是為了有錢花

然後因為想要的越多,就得越辛苦的工作

然後反正就是什麼都在追求物質上的東西

到最後我們已經不知道我們到底真正想要的是什麼東西

we are lost...

對物質的追求只會形成循環,讓你永遠無法滿足的感覺

一種空虛

我們已經擁有足夠的科技來讓我們建造sustainable的未來

不過這個世界的領導者(大公司,政府等具影響力的機構)還是向錢看齊.

他們不斷的想將對環境有利的事延後, 在他們看來那些都是多出來的支出

不過越拖, 要花的錢會越多, 他們就越不願意做

不過我們不能再拖下去了(像功課一樣!?...orz)

依我們現在的方式繼續下去有兩種可能

一個是,人類滅亡,地球何其他生命活下去

第二個是,人類滅亡,地球變成像水星一樣荒無死寂的世界

這影片裡面講了好多好多東西...我有種overwhelming的感覺...

一下子消化不了..希望有機會可以再看一次><

其中一句話讓我印象深刻 (也許只是因為跟自己的專業有點關係吧)

"redesign design it self"

設計已經不在只是很多人所想美學的問題了

最新的設計很有可能完全在外觀上完全看不出什麼特別,不過他能夠大大的改善現在我們面對的問題

不過我想這也是問題之一

現在人都想要看到一個新東西, 然後有種 "好酷喔!!!!" 的感覺

不過很多人在看到環保產品的第一感覺是.."只是做做樣子然後賣貴一點吧" 的反應...orz

我orz幹麻...因為我有這樣子想過...我不能否認我自己曾有的觀點

影片中有說到,所有的人都是有投票權的

當你選擇購買某樣東西,就代表你同意他的做法

依現在的環境, 想要生產環保一點的產品可能是會比不顧慮後續問題的貴一點

這讓我種在買未來的感覺...(啥)

說實在的..我真的很不會寫東西...寫了那麼多讓人很難讀下去的東西還是感覺好像沒講到重點

人與自然是一體的, 但是現代人已經像是太空人,住在人類建造的環境中,接收從遠方傳來的訊息(媒體)

我不在多說了...真的希望大家有機會去看看,聽聽,想想這個世界/未來

做出來,傳出去

前幾天在 id公社 看到一篇不錯的文章

叫做 "做出來,傳出去" (http://www.hi-id.com/?p=2178)

看完以後有種感嘆的感覺...

因為好像被重重的敲醒了...

也許只有我自己在作夢吧...其他人都是清醒的...

我的所有東西都像他說的...停留在平面上...

想做出來當然是有,但是從來沒嘗試去真的做...

我連第一不都做不到..當然第二步也很難達到...

這個blog算是第一個attempt to spread idea...

但是基本上是不成功的..

第一..因為我只能傳遞給我認識的人

第二..用blogger的大多是外國人,可是我寫的是中文..外國人看不懂..==|||

第三..這裡面基本上沒什麼內容可言, 所以也很難讓人對他有興趣吧

本來jacky是說要創建一個網頁來post我們的idea...

不過我們都沒時間來做網頁, 因此我就用blogger來做...

我是很希望能夠持續的來更新這個網誌, 甚至希望其他人也一起來發表意見

不過這並不是必要的事情,所以一忙起來就變得沒人理,荒廢了..

也許現在還不到我可以做這種工作的時候吧...

這樣的想法太消極了...

我應該想辦法讓更多人知道這個地方...讓更多人看到我們的想法

無論是多麼天真,多麼瘋狂,多麼無腦的想法,他們還是我們的想法

也許我們不是greatest designer/ artist/ engineer/ programer

但是我們有沒有限制的想像空間~

唯一缺的就是creation club最早的概念~"做出來,傳出去"!!!

這篇文章真的很不錯,雖然是在說設計,但是我認為在各行各業都很受用

另外講到spread idea, 我今天看到的一個網站叫做 TED

有很多在不同領域的專家發表他們的想法, 都是vedio的~所以不用讀很長的論文=w=!

用生動的方式發表一些新想法/創意
